Portrait of Elles Droppers

From my connecting role, I can learn something valuable from everyone.

I want to keep on growing, and so I continue to develop myself. It often comes naturally, from an intrinsic motivation. Development is the behavioural aspect of growth, and human behaviour fascinates me. Why do you do what you do? How do you influence your behaviour? How do you get the best out of yourself and others? So, among other things, I took the Applied Psychology course and the Middle Management course: valuable additions to my Business Communications degree.

I am currently studying Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), through which I am learning to communicate more effectively and to change behaviour to achieve better results. These are useful skills in my current position within the ambitious organisation that is Radboud Academy. In my Master’s degree programme in NLP, I dwelled extensively on the art of modelling: teaching people certain abilities, skills and competences. You map out the exemplary behaviour of your ‘model', with the aim that it can be imitated. So, learning new skills is easier than you think, as long as you know how.

In this way, in my connecting role, I can learn something valuable from everyone. From the inspiring colleagues in my team and the professionals I get to work with to the experts with whom we develop our meaningful courses and training range. That is how I continue to enjoy developing myself every day!
