Sharon de Groot
Sharon de Groot

New director Faculty of Law

From 1 February 2024, Sharon de Groot will take over the position of director of operations at the Faculty of Law. The Executive Board agreed to this today.

Sharon has enthusiastically filled the position of director of operations at the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging for the past four years. She has a financial background and is well versed in the ins and outs of the university. Her affinity lies with an academic environment, and she very consciously made the transition to the position of director of a faculty with a lot of educational activities and in a building bustling with student life. In the words of Dean Roel Schutgens, "thanks to her engaging personality and eye for the human aspect, I expect Sharon to play a connecting role in our faculty and make a valuable contribution to the stability, quality and positioning of our research and teaching".

Sharon's previous positions include Manager Finance & Control at FNWI and before that Controller / Treasurer in the Finance & Control division.

Sharon's arrival marks the departure of our current director, Ine van den Heuvel, as of 1 March. After seven loyal years of service at the Law School and more than 25 years at Radboud University, Ine is leaving us to enjoy a well-earned early retirement. This is of course cordially granted to her by the Faculty Board, although her departure is regretted. Ine was a very knowledgeable and committed director.

A reception to mark Ine's departure will take place in the Grotius Building on Thursday 22 February 2024 from 4.30 pm. You are most welcome to attend.

You will already see Sharon occasionally walking around the faculty from January as she is learning the ropes. As of 1 February she will formally take over the directorship, after which Ine will be present from time to time until 1 March for a proper handover.

The faculty board wishes them both good luck and lots of enjoyment in their new pursuits.
