Looking at the developments of the past few weeks, show that protest is of all times. During Radboud Sounds, protest will be examined from different perspectives. What does the return of the witch have to do with protest? How did the Romans deal with protesters? And why are more people arrested at Extinction Rebellion than at the peasant protests?
In a continuous program from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., talks by scholars are alternated with performances by artists. For example, religion scientist Arjan Sterken discusses with Grietje Dresen how the witch became a sign of protest. Ethicist and eyewitness Marcel Becker talks about the Piersonrellen, as the prime example of civil disobedience. And historian Olivier Hekster does a live recording of his podcast on the Romans ‘Rare Jongens’. Cavolo Nero, a psychedelic groove band from Utrecht, and Elmer, electro-funk/italo disco, among others, perform a live set.
All activities will take place in the Red and Purple Hall and the Doornroosje Café, concluding with a dance party.
