Contents of the course
Coaching individual students or small groups requires different skills from teachers than the ones you use in traditional education. Think of stimulating students in active learning, taking initiative, collaborating together, and taking responsibility for their own learning process.
During this course, you will learn to:
- identify and apply the basic principles of coaching.
- explain the difference between solution-focused and problem-focused coaching
- apply several tools from solution-focused coaching
- structure your coaching conversations
- reflect on your role as a coach and clarify what you want to develop further
- explain the boundaries of your role as a coach
Target audience
This course is designed specifically for teachers who interact with students in a coaching manner. This role can be found when teaching in a personal and professional development (PPD) course or as a mentor, for example. Ideally you attend this course before the start of your coaching tasks.
