NeurotechEU’s partner universities are:

  • Radboud University
  • Universidad Miguel Hernández (Spain)
  • Karolinska Institutet (Sweden)
  • Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (Germany)
  • Boğaziçi Üniversitesi (Turkey)
  • Universitatea de Medicină și Farmacie din Cluj-Napoca (Romania)
  • Université de Lille (France)
  • Háskólinn í Reykjavík (Iceland)

In addition, numerous European research institutes and organisations are involved within NeurotechEU.

Exchange of education, research and employment

The European Universities Initiative facilitates the exchange of education, research and employment. This means that students can take lessons at all the institutions involved, not constrained by institutional capabilities and borders. They can thus gain international experience and benefit from the specific expertise of the various universities. For scientists, it will lead to the improvement of education they provide and to smoother cooperation in research.

In this way, the initiative trains new researchers and engineers at the highest possible level, with a background and network in several institutes. This improves Europe's position in brain research and engineering, and provides well-educated people to tackle future societal problems.

NeurotechEU, The European University of Brain and Technology

The economic and health burden of neurological disease is a global public health challenge, and neurological disorders are the leading cause of Disability Adjusted Life Years and the second leading cause of death. Beyond the health domain, there is an increasing need observed for new brain-based technologies in control, computer architecture and microprocessor domains, among others.

NeurotechEU delivers education and training for all segments of society and in all regions of Europe, educating students across all levels (bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and lifelong learners) and shaping the next generation of multidisciplinary scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs that will address Europe’s challenges in technology and health.

NeurotechEU, the European University of Brain and Technology, brings together more than 222.000 students, and more than 42.000 personnel.

Radboud University and NeurotechEU

Radboud University is the coordinating university of NeurotechEU, which entails that we have a NeurotechEU ad interim coordinator, Richard van Wezel, and a management and coordination team that helps with the general management of NeurotechEU.

During phase 2 (2023-2027) NeurotechEU activities are coordinated in 5 work packages (WPs):

  • WP 1: Management and coordination: Radboud University is lead
  • WP 2: Interdisciplinary knowledge creation: Radboud University is lead
  • WP 3: Empowering learners and staff
  • WP 4: Common policies and strategy
  • WP 5: Impact and dissemination: Radboud University is co-lead
