PON is an independent organisation that advocates the best interests of all PhD candidates in Nijmegen. PON is run by PhD candidates and has an advisory role with regard to the Radboud University (RU) and Radboudumc (RUMC) board of directors.

PON is involved in:
PON is run by PhD candidates from the Radboud University and the Radboudumc. The board is split into different committees and each committee ideally consists out of 2-5 board members. We aim to have a good division between RU and UMC PhDs. PON meets biweekly with the entire board.
The Executive Committee exists out of the chair, vice-chair, secretary, and treasurer. They oversee the financial and strategic planning as a whole. Next to this they establish general policies, keep track of ingoing and outgoing correspondence, and correspond with the PhD councils, PNN, and the Board of Directors.

The Communication and PR committee is responsible for social media, external PR, this website, and the newsletter. If you have any news, a good meme, an event to promote towards PhD candidates, please let us know by sending an email to pon [at] ru.nl (pon[at]ru[dot]nl).
The educational activities committee organizes monthly workshops and seminars such as the annual PhD day, thesis printing workshops, and the "No Stress November" events. They are doing their best to improve your skills and excite you with knowledgeable events.

The PON board meets once every two weeks, and usually we go for a drink afterwards. As a board member you can join us on all our events and enjoy the PON social life! But most importantly, you will get a chance to make a lasting impact on the Radboud PhD community.

We currently have multiple open positions within PON. For all these positions, you can be in any year of your PhD, from any faculty/research institute - we represent them all, and we want to hear your voice!
If you are interested in PhD rights, policies and regulations and want to improve PhD life by improving the current PhD policies and regulations, then you might be interested in becoming our new vice-chair. Together with the chair, the vice-chair is responsible for representing the best interest of all PhD candidates in Nijmegen at different levels within (e.g. rector, graduate schools, PhD policy officers) and outside (e.g. PhD Network Netherlands) the Radboud University/UMC.
Do you want to contribute to strengthen the PhD community? Are you interested in occupying a key role in the main PhD representative organization? Then maybe you should become PON’s new treasurer. As treasurer, you will be in charge of structuring the budget of the organization and keeping track of the monthly expenses. You do NOT need to have any prior experience or finance knowledge for this role.
Are you interested in organizing impactful events that can improve the trajectory of many PhD candidates? Then you might want to join PON´s Educational Activities committee. You will be in charge of organizing events that will contribute to improving the skills of PhD candidates beyond their courses. You will work in close collaboration with other committee members to plan events like the annual PhD Career Day, PhD cafe and workshops. In this position you help to offer broader and meaningful skills to all PhDs in Nijmegen.
The social activities committee organizes biweekly and monthly social events for all PhDs in Nijmegen. Think of the pubquiz, board game nights, and the annual PhD gala. Get to know your fellow PhDs in an informal settings and join one of our many events!
