Study programme Global Communication and Diversity
The study programme of Global Communication and Diversity covers one year and has a course load of 60 EC. Courses have a load of 5 or 10 EC; the Master’s thesis counts for 20 EC. A schematic overview of the programme can be found here.

Electives are courses taken in addition to the compulsory courses. You may choose any course of at least 5 EC that is offered as an elective at Master's level (prerequisites may apply, check the course guides), offered by:
- our own department Language and Communication
- other Master’s programmes at the Faculty of Arts
- the Master’s programme Communication Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences
- other faculties (e.g. Faculty of Management or Law)
- other universities in the Netherlands, for example through Masterlanguage.

In an internship of 192 hours, you will become acquainted with the professional practice of communication consultants. You will conduct research into a communication issue in an organisational context and will write an advisory report on it. At university, you will take part in communication training, with a focus on your personal development as a future communication professional.
* The internship, with the Communication and Consultancy course, is an optional component of the programme. Instead of the internship, you can also choose two additional elective courses with a total workload of (at least) 10 EC.

Your Master's thesis is an individual scientific research project, in which you investigate a topic on Global Communication and Diversity, related to one of the current research themes investigated by the researchers/lecturers in the department, and under their supervision.
