Group leader of the Nano-Chemistry group which focuses on creating well-defined systems of molecules in solution and on a surface, and aims to understand how the molecular arrangement and interactions leads to and influences macroscopic properties and functionality. To this end we study systems at the highest detail possible, at the single molecule level using the world's most powerful microscopes.

About
Hans Elemans specialises in molecular nanotechnology. He is developing a new kind of hard disk where data will be stored on polymers; the main component will be the material that is also used in car tires. Data can then be stored more economically and without the use of scarce raw materials.
