My research is focused on the healthy aging brain; specifically on understanding how brain function gives rise to cognitive abilities over the lifespan. To best characterize brain function I use and develop various innovative techniques for fMRI and EEG data. Questions I am working on in this context are: How can we characterize the ongoing communication between different brain regions, and how does this change with age? How is communication between brain regions modulated over time and by changes in the internal and external environment, and does this flexibility change with advancing age? And how do individual differences in functional and structural brain measures relate to each other and to an individual’s level of cognitive functioning?

About
Linda Geerligs conducts research into the dynamics of brain function. She looks at how brain functions change during the different stages of adult life. She also examines the ways in which the brain processes the continuous flow of information by dividing it into meaningful units.
