André’s past and current teaching involves a variety of courses, including an undergraduate course in Behavioral & Experimental Economics and a graduate course in Comparative Institutional Analysis. André is the chair of the Program Committee for the Department of Economics and Business Economics.
André's research takes a comparative and interactive perspective on actors’ embeddedness in different socio-cultural contexts. Comparative studies involve differences between actors from different contexts, for example, cross-country variation in values. Work emphasizing the interactive perspective involves studying socioeconomic exchange across socio-cultural faultlines, for example, multinational firms and migrant workers. André’s research combines disciplines, particularly economics, international business and sociology. André’s work has been published in a variety of internationally recognized outlets, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA and American Sociological Review. He also publishes regularly in practitioner journals.
