Prof. Arno Kentgens specializes in the development of methodologies for investigating molecules and materials, in particular on the improvement of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). This is an analysis technique that can provide detailed information about the structure and dynamics of all matter at the molecular / atomic level using magnetic fields and radio waves. This technique is encountered in the hospital under the name MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) for making contrast rich images of the anatomy and the physiological processes of the body. Kentgens’ research group applies NMR to study materials. Their research provides information on relevant materials such as the promising perovskite materials for solar cells, lithium-ion battery materials, zeolite catalysts and plastics.
