In 2007, she defended her dissertation on the transposition of EC directives in the Netherlands (Leiden University). Her main research interests are the Europeanization of national governments, EU compliance and implementation, and legislative ex-post evaluation in the European Union. Recently she completed several projects on the role of national parliaments in EU decision making. Currently, Ellen Mastenbroek supervises two PhD projects on EU implementation (Elena Bondarouk, Nora Dörrenbächer). She is director of EUROPAL, a multidisciplinary research group on Europeanization of Policy and Law based at Radboud University (together with prof. Henri de Waele).
