Professor Johan Oosterman specializes in:

rhetoric literature;
Dutch songs of the Middle Ages and the sixteenth century;
literature from the border area between the Netherlands and Germany (Gelderland and Rijnland).

Professor Oosterman was one of the compilers of the Repertorium van het Nederlandse lied tot 1600 (Repertory of Dutch songs until 1600) and one of the editors of the Antwerps Liedboek (Antwerp Song Book). He is currently working on the publication of the collected works of Anthonis de Roovere and he is leading a project on the prayer book of Mary of Guelders. He is guest-curator of an exhibition about Mary of Guelders and her prayer book in Museum Het Valkhof (October 13 2018 - January 7, 2019).

Professor Oosterman has worked on various projects together with the Egidius Quartet and the Camerata Trajectina ensemble.
