Eric Visser is an expert on how plants respond to abiotic stresses such as drought, nutrient deficiency, shading and flooding. He studies the impact of these stress factors on plant hormone action, gene regulation and the subsequent phenotypic responses of root and shoot development. Main current topics are precision fertilization, root growth responses to local nutrients and drought, developing new root stocks to withstand abiotic stress, and root development in biodiverse plant mixtures.
