This course takes place from 24 September 2024 until 16 January 2025. You can choose from the following two options:
Group A
- Course day and time: Tuesday & Thursday from 6.00 - 7.45 pm
- Location: At our location in Nijmegen
- Number of participants: min. 10 - max. 18
Group B
- Course day and time: Tuesday & Thursday from 6.00 - 7.45 pm
Location: Online via the Virtual Classroom and always involves guidance from a teacher
Number of participants: min. 10 - max. 15
Group C
- Course day and time: Tuesday & Thursday from 6.00 - 7.45 pm
- Location: At our location in Nijmegen
- Number of participants: min. 10 - max. 18
If a lesson is cancelled, it will be rescheduled in the week following the last lesson.
Dutch is spoken as much as possible during classes. You should count on about six to eight hours of individual study per week.
Exam dates
The assessments will take place during the two final classes. Please note: you are only allowed to take the assessment if you have attended at least 80% of classes.
What will you learn in this course?
The advanced course will teach you Dutch up to B2 level. The classes focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing. Reading and writing skills are mostly practiced in the time allotted for self-study.
Speaking
You can present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of topics related to your area of interest. You can take part in spontaneous conversations so normal exchanges with native speakers are reasonably possible. You can actively take part in discussions in familiar contexts and express your views.
Listening
You can understand longer speeches and lectures. You can follow complex reasoning on topics that are reasonably familiar to you. You can understand most news and current affairs programmes on television. You can understand most films in the standard dialect.
Reading
You can read articles and reports that deal with contemporary issues in which the writers adopt a particular perspective. You can understand modern literary prose.
Writing
You can write clear, detailed texts on a wide range of topics. You can write essays or reports, convey information and give reasons to support a particular perspective. You can write letters that explain the personal significance of an event or experience.
