Language course Korean for beginners (halfway to A2)

Follow this Korean halfway to A2 online course if you can already understand simple words, sentences, and short texts in Korean. You can also enrol in this course if you have completed the Korean A1 course.

    General

    After completing this Korean language course, you will be able to:

    • have simple, short conversations on personal topics;
    • broadly follow everyday conversations on familiar topics;
    • broadly understand short, simple texts (brochures, advertisements);
    • write short, simple messages or e-mails.

    The course focuses primarily on verbal communication, as well as reading, listening and writing skills. You will also learn more about Korean culture. 
    To receive a Radboud in’to Languages certificate, you need to attend 80% of the classes.

    This course will help you on your way to language level A2.

    This course takes place from 3 October until 28 November 2024. There is no class in the week of 21 October because of the Autumn Break.

    Class day and time: Thursdays from 6.00 - 7.30 pm 
    Location: Online via the Virtual Classroom and always involves guidance from a teacher 
    Number of participants: min. 5 - max. 16

    Approach and content

    Korean is spoken as much as possible during classes, with English as the supporting language, as are the materials used. This means you can take this course if you do not speak Dutch. 

    You should count on about three to four hours of individual study per week.

    What do the classes cover?

    Skills

    • You will learn to use personal pronouns and talk about your family in a respectful way
    • You will learn about verbs and adjectives related to the hospital, post office and transport
    • You will learn to give your reasoning and to say what is and is not allowed
    • You will learn to make yourself understood during a visit to the doctor: explain where it hurts, why you came to see them, describe your symptoms

    Grammar

    We cover a range of topics in the Korean halfway to A2 course, including grammar:

    • Using the present and past tense in a formal setting
    • Important verbs when talking about how to go somewhere and what to do
    • Using the suffixes to talk about what you can or cannot do and giving two or more alternatives
    • Using the future tense and talking about conditions
