General

After completing this Russian language course, you will be able to:

understand simple words, expressions and sentences;
ask and answer simple, short questions;
follow a simple conversation;
write simple, short sentences about personal matters;

The course focuses primarily on verbal communication, as well as reading, listening and writing skills. You will also learn more about Russian culture.

To receive a Radboud in’to Languages certificate, you need to attend 80% of the classes.

This course will help you on your way to language level A1. After completing this course, you can continue with the Russian A1 course to complete the A1 level.

Programme

This course takes place from 3 October until 28 November 2024. There is no class in the week of 21 October because of the Autumn Break.

Class day and time: Thursdays from 7.45 - 9.15 pm
Number of participants: min. 6 - max. 14

You can choose whether to join online or on location at the Nijmegen campus.

Approach and content

Russian is spoken as much as possible during classes, with Dutch as the supporting language. This means you cannot take this course if you do not speak Dutch.

You should count on about three to four hours of individual study per week.

What do the classes cover?

Skills

You will learn to read and understand short, simple sentences, texts and dialogues
You will learn to greet, return a greeting and say goodbye
You will learn to ask simple short questions about identity
You will learn to introduce yourself: your name, your age, where you are from, what work you do
You will learn how to describe someone else
You will learn to talk about how things are going

Grammar

We cover a range of topics in the Russian halfway to A1 course, including grammar:

The grammatical gender of nouns
Personal pronouns (first and fourth cases)
Possessive pronouns (first case)
First (nominative) case and sixth case (locative) of singular nouns
First singular adjective nouns
