General

After this Russian language course you will be able to:

  • Understand long speeches, TV programmes and films without too much effort.
  • Understand long, complex factual and literary texts, and appreciate the use of different styles.
  • Understand specialised articles and lengthy technical instructions.
  • Provide clear, detailed descriptions on complex topics. Express yourself fluently and spontaneously, using the language flexibly and effectively for both social and professional purposes.

The emphasis is on oral communication. You will also learn more about Russian culture. You will receive a certificate from Radboud in’to Languages if you attend 80% of the classes. 

This course will help you on your way to language level C1.

This course takes place from 30 September until 25 November 2024. There is no class in the week of 21 October because of the Autumn Break.

Class day and time: Mondays from 7.45 - 9.15 pm 
Number of participants: min. 6 - max. 16

There will be eight meetings:
- 5 online meetings (2, 3, 4, 6 and 7) and
- 3 on-site meetings (1, 5 and 8).

Approach and content

Russian is spoken as much as possible during classes, with Dutch as the supporting language. This means you cannot take this course if you do not speak Dutch.

You should count on about three to four hours of individual study per week.

What do the classes cover?

  • You will learn to have spontaneous conversations about a problematic topic
  • You will learn to express yourself fluently and spontaneously and use language flexibly for social purposes
  • You will learn to write clear, structured texts and explain specific perspectives in detail, and present these texts and initiate discussions
  • You will learn how to argue in a debate
  • You will be introduced to using slang and jargon
