Competent NT2 teacher certificate (EVC)

You can earn your ‘Competent NT2 teacher’ certificate at Radboud in’to Languages. This qualification was established by De Beroepsvereniging van docenten Nederlands als tweede taal (the Professional Association of Teachers of Dutch as a Second Language): the BVNT2. NT2 teachers who have been teaching for many years and have attended continuing education and training can record their competencies (EVC) to show that they are competent teachers of Dutch as a Second Language.

The procedure consists of compiling an aptitude portfolio. To compile the portfolio, you will use the aptitude portfolio manual and the aptitude profile. If the aptitude portfolio is formally approved, an assessment interview with two assessors will then take place.

Portfolio components

You should send the documents below (in Dutch) with your application. This is the portfolio as listed on the BVNT2 but split into five parts. You can download all the individual components of the aptitude portfolio below.

  1. Title page
  2. Part 1: Portfolio of a competent NT2 Teacher
  3. Part 2: Portfolio of a competent NT2 Teacher
  4. Part 3: File; Portfolio of a NT2 Teacher
  5. Appendices

Registration

Apply by sending us the five parts of the portfolio. We use WeTransfer for this as these are large files. You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt after applying. The assessors will then assess the portfolio first on formal aspects. If the portfolio is agreed formally, a date for an interview will be scheduled. You cannot reschedule the assessment. You can cancel, but there is a cancellation fee.

Assessment

Radboud in’to Languages assesses the participant’s competences that need to be certified in an assessment interview. If you are assessed positively, you will receive the qualification ‘Competent NT2-docent’. You can use this to apply to the BVNT2’s register of certified teachers. Language providers, municipalities and others see this certificate as a guarantee of quality.

Costs

The cost for a portfolio assessment is €1,200. You will receive an invoice for the full amount after registration. The BVNT2 reimburses teachers €350 if they have to pay all or most of the costs themselves.
