ChatGPT and other AI chatbots

Artificial intelligence chatbots such as ChatGPT and Google Bard use large language models to generate quick, accessible answers to a variety of questions. It presents opportunities, but also risks. At Radboud University, research on this form of AI is being conducted from different angles.

Van Rooij studies the scope and limits of human cognition. She approaches this from the perspectives of psychology, philosophy and computer science. She also reflects critically on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in society and science.

Arjen de Vries researches how large amounts of data - personal data, medical documents, scientific publications, cultural resources and internet data - can be searched more effectively. He develops AI applications that employ the user’s help to identify the right information.
