Yvonne Benschop researches the responsibility that organisations have towards issues that pertain to gender equality, diversity and inclusion. Which strategies and tools help organisations to change? What role do training courses, networking and inclusive leadership play?

Marieke van den Brink conducts research into gender and diversity within organisations, including those within the scientific community. She specifically researches the existing opportunities and the obstacles that prevent women or persons of colour from being excluded from the labour market.

Gijs Bijlstra researches whether stereotypes and prejudices affect the way in which we perceive others. This is something that often happens without people being aware of it. His research includes the study of the way in which stereotypes may affect the recognition of emotions or awareness.

Tesseltje de Lange researches the European regulation of economic migration and integration. She specialises in migration and entrepreneurship, the economic integration of refugees, knowledge workers migration, family migration and migrant family members’ access to employment.

Coen van Galen’s research focuses on the history of people who lived in slavery and how slavery continues to affect society. He also worked together with volunteers to produce the online Suriname and Curaçao slave registers, which were made available for genealogical research.

Niels Spierings is a sociologist of inclusion and exclusion. He studies the role of Islam in politics and the empowerment of women and LGBTQA+ people, the representation of minorities and women in politics and society, and populism in social media and politics. On these topics, he also feeds public discussion and provides policy advice.

Ashley Terlouw conducts judicial and legal sociological research into discrimination, especially discrimination that is based on race, nationality and religion. She also focuses on asylum law, jurisprudence and conflict resolution institutions such as the judiciary.

Heleen Murre-van den Berg conducts research on Christians in and from the Middle East. She focuses on their history in this region and the settlement of these Christians in Europe. Language, literature and imagery play an important role in her research into their religious practices.

As a sociologist Lieselotte Blommaert looks at diversity and discrimination in the labour market. What impact do factors such as ethnicity and gender have on someone's chances on the labour market, and what can organizations do about it?
