For Radboud-managed Windows workstations, running Windows updates is only possible if the workstation is regularly connected to the campus network. Desktops on campus are always connected, but laptops do not. You connect your Radboud laptop to the campus network by logging in on campus or by connecting to the campus network off campus via a VPN connection. If you do not use your laptop much, or if it is a laptop on loan, it is important to take this into account and preferably switch the laptop on and log in to it once a week to have the updates installed.
Furthermore, it is important to reboot your laptop at least once a week. Click on the green icon (✳️) as soon as it appears in your taskbar to reboot your laptop. When (Windows) updates lag behind, the risk of vulnerabilities increases.
