Graduation Ceremonies

Once you have graduated, you will receive your qualification at the graduation ceremony. There are different dates on which you may attend a graduation ceremony; these are determined by your faculty and your study programme. Take a look at the dates to see when you will attend your graduation ceremony and see what you will need to take into account when you apply.

Graduation Ceromonies for each faculty

Faculty of Social Sciences

If you wish to take part in a particular graduation ceremony, you will need to make sure that your examination date falls at least seven weeks before the ceremony when you apply for your qualification. Diploma Services will announce the exact time and place of the ceremonies via email about two weeks before the ceremony. This means that you will need to make sure that your current personal email address has been entered in Osiris (you can change this yourself via Studielink).

In the tables below, at the bachelor's and master's degree ceremonies, you will find the 'latest application date'. This is the latest date by which you can apply for your degree in order to take part in the ceremony mentioned next to it. If you apply for your degree later than this date, you will take part in the next ceremony.

Below you will find an overview of handouts and deadlines for submitting application forms. The Central Student Desk (centralstudentdesk [at] ru.nl or (024) 361 23 45 ) will determine the date of the presentation in consultation with the Examination Board of your programme. If you cannot be present at the ceremony, you can send a request to the Examination Board of your programme to collect your degree at the desk. In your request, describe the reason for absence.

Please note: the request must be completed and sent online before the submission date to be able to participate on the graduation ceremony date. You can apply for your diploma up to six weeks before the ceremony.

you wish to take part in the ceremony, the Student Information Desk will need to have received your graduation application and be informed of all of the results that you have obtained at least six weeks before the ceremony. You will receive an invitation from Diploma Services no later than seven days before the ceremony. This invitation will contain all of the necessary information about the ceremony. If you do not receive an invitation, please contact the Student Information Desk.

All of the ceremonies will be held in the Berchmanianum Chapel.

Bachelor’s graduation ceremony for the 2023-2024 academic year

Reception Desk Drop-off - 22 April 2024: new applications will theoretically* be allocated for the Reception Desk Drop-off on 22 April 2024, so that qualifications can be collected from the Diploma Services reception desk. Applications may be submitted until 18 March 2024.
A festive ceremony will be held in autumn of 2024: the exact dates of the ceremony will be announced at a later date.

*If you would like to attend the festive ceremony in autumn of 2024, please indicate this in the comments field. Although you will not receive your qualification until the autumn, your exam will already be registered with DUO.

Faculty of Science

For each programme, there are a number of graduation ceremonies each year. Each exam date has a corresponding date on which the graduation ceremony takes place. On your exam application, you indicate whether you wish to attend this ceremony.

Please note that the time mentioned in the table is the time slot within which the ceremony will be held. The exact time of the ceremony will be communicated in an official invitation from Diploma Services about three weeks before the ceremony is held.

In exceptional cases, the day or time may need to be changed. If this is the case, the relevant individuals will be informed.
