Perception, Action and Decision-making

The Master's track in Perception, Action and Decision-making studies the basic sensorimotor aspects of perception-action coupling as well as the cognitive contextual and social components.

About this study curriculum

In the Perception, Action and Decision-making track you’ll gain ample experience in current research and analysis techniques in perception, three-dimensional motor research, psychophysiological studies, neuroimaging and electromyographical studies. You’ll also be able to apply formal theories on and models of perceptive functions, sensorimotor functions, and complex actions in your research.

As a student of the track in Perception, Action and Decision-making, you must choose 18 ECs from the following list of six courses:

  • Sensorimotor Control and Learning
  • Cognitive Control and Decision Making
  • Social Neurocognition
  • Perception
  • Attention and Prediction
  • Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience

Something for you?

  • This track is aimed at the three basic components of current Cognitive Neuroscience: modelling, designing and conducting behavioural studies and measuring the neurobiological foundations of behaviour.
  • As a student of this Master’s, you’re able to use the state-of-the-art research equipment that is located on campus, like the Sensorimotorlab.
  • This track also works closely with the Radboudumc and the Sint Maartenskliniek, a hospital that specialises in posture and movement, also housed in Nijmegen.

In total, you have to choose 12 EC of elective courses. You can choose to do all of these courses in your first or in your second year; or you can distribute them across the two years. This is entirely up to you. For your elective space you may choose any Master level course. You may thus choose electives from outside your track, or choose to do extra skill training courses or choose to do courses from other programmes (e.g., Behavioural Science or Artificial Intelligence programmes). Furthermore, the courses stated above you may also choose as elective courses
