This course takes place from 10 October until 5 December 2024. There is no class in the week of 21 October because of the Autumn Break.

Approach and content
Spanish is spoken as much as possible during classes, with Dutch and English as the supporting languages. This means that in most cases, you can take this course if you do not speak Dutch. Please contact our Service Centre for more information.
You should count on about three to four hours of individual study per week.
What will the classes cover?
Skills
You will learn how to:
- talk about habits and problems you encounter while learning Spanish;
- describe the duration of something (‘from... to...,’ ‘In 1998,’ ‘since’);
- provide recommendations;
- describe your feelings;
- tell someone about something that happened to you in the past;
- express your preferences and say whether you like or dislike something;
- compare things, situations and people;
- say where objects are located in a room;
- describe a house and furniture;
- ask for a favour and ask or give permission;
- apologise;
- talk about what you do in your spare time;
- describe experiences;
- discuss plans and projects.
You also continue to learn about Spanish culture: Spanish-language cinema, music and painting.
Grammar
We cover a range of topics in the Spanish halfway to A2 course, including grammar:
- A review of conjugating remaining regular and irregular Spanish verbs in the present tense.
- A review of using reflexive Spanish verbs.
- Using Desde/desde hace/hace...que.
- The form and use of the first past tense: El indefinido. Regular and irregular verbs.
- Using time indications with the past tense: el indefinido.
- Using prepositions I: desde, durante and hasta.
- Using steps of comparison.
- Using prepositions II: sin, con, debajo, encima, etc.
- The use of the stressed possessive pronouns: mío, tuyo, suyo, etc.
- The form and usage of the verb gustar, encantar y preferir.
- The form and use of el gerundio. Regular and irregular verbs.
- The form and using the second past tense: El pretérito perfecto. Regular and irregular verbs.
- Using ya and todavía.
- Using the phrasing: ir + a+ whole verb to talk about future actions or events.
